I first started studying diatoms in the family Rhopalodiaceae as an undergraduate in Scott Miller’s lab at the University of Montana. After graduating in 2020, I decided to continue the project as a PhD student in the same lab. Currently, I am researching the relationship between Epithemia and its endosymbiont, including how has evolved over time and how the two partners coordinate their efforts. My broader research interests include understanding the evolutionary history and the development of tight-knit microbial relationships.

Diatoms of North America is running a fundraising campaign to keep the servers in operation. We need you to reach our $25,000 fundraising goal.
