Where there is water, it’s worth having a look – Klaus Kemp
I am a researcher for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) with a focus in estuarine and marsh diatom species identification. I was first introduced to diatoms by my supervisor, Kathryn Smith. I was mesmerized by their intricate structures and opalescent shine! From then on, diatom taxonomy instantly became my passion! Currently, I am analyzing diatom samples from coastal environments found along the northern Gulf of Mexico. I am excited to be a part of Diatoms of North America and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite diatom species!
