Lena Ivarsson

I am an undergraduate biology student at Södertörn University in Stockholm, Sweden. My interest in diatoms started when I did my examination paper on tracing environmental changes using diatom stratigraphy. Since I got the opportunity to study diatoms fulltime at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory my interest has only grown, and I can feel the beginning of a lifelong obsession. My aim is to continue working in the Baltic and hopefully, by using the diatom record, contribute to a better understanding of what the term “good environmental status” means for the Baltic Sea.
