As an undergraduate at the University of Iowa, I am working towards a major in environmental science with an emphasis in biosciences and a minor in chemistry. My current research under Dr. Gregory Lefevre in the environmental engineering department involves pharmaceuticals and fungicides in waterways and the impacts of wastewater treatment and plant uptake on such compounds. At Iowa Lakeside Lab, I have had my first experience with diatom taxonomy and research.

As an intern at the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, I will soon be researching the symbiotic relationship between seagrass, lucinid bivalves, and the bacteria inhabiting the bivalves' gills. In the future I hope to continue research in marine biology.
