My Ph.D. research involves the assessment of the modern and pre-industrial/natural water quality of inland lakes throughout Ohio. I plan to analyze modern and subfossil diatom assemblage data to create paleoenvironmental reconstructions of these lacustrine environments to better understand how these lakes have been impacted by agriculture. I will use these reconstructions to determine the state to which polluted lakes can reasonably be restored.
