From July 2008 until July 2018, the generitype of Bacillaria was presented on this page as Bacillaria paradoxa. In July 2018, the page was revised to present the generitype as Bacillaria paxillifera (O.F.Müller) Hendey J.F.Gmelin 1788, following the revision of Jahn and Schmid (2007).
