Isotopic position

Isotopic position applies specifically to the position of the fultoportulae of some concentrically undulate species of Stephanodiscus, such as S. niagarae.

Fultoportulae on the valve face in these species have an isotopic position in relation to each other, because they reside in the central area of both the concave and the convex valves. In Greek, isotopic means same place.

See the contrasting term, heterotopic position.
