Image of a filament of the green alga Cladophora, with attached living diatoms. Cells of Cocconeis are lying prostrate on the surface of the Cladophora. Colonies of Rhoicosphenia abbreviata are attached by stalks. The golden brown plastids are visible in the diatom cells.
