  5. Fibulae interrupted by wide hyaline ring

Valves are saddle-shaped. The central area is separated from the fibulae by a rounded, rectangular hyaline ring. The areolae in this area are organized into nonuniform rows that are perpendicular to the central hyaline which splits the center down the middle. Many fibulae possess an additional wide hyaline area giving them the appearance of being ornamented near the edges but blank in the middle.
