Craticula riparia var. mollenhaueri is shorter in length and has a greater stria density. Valves of C. ambigua are relatively greater in width, that is, not as distinctly slender as valves of C. riparia. Craticula buderi valves are shorter in length and width, and have a lower stria density. Valves of C. vixnegligenda are smaller (Length: 20-25 µm, Width: 5.5-6.5 µm), with a higher stria density (25 in 10µm).
