Cyclotella gamma is also tangentially undulate. In C. gamma, however, the striae do not decrease in width near the central area and two shadow lines are visible. Cyclotella meneghiniana possesses central fultoportulae. Cyclotella michiganiana is also tangentially undulate, the fultoportulae are restricted to one side of the central area.
