Cymbopleura crassipunctata has lanceolate valves, bulbous proximal raphe ends, and lower areola density. Cymbopleura subrostrata is larger with more distinctly hooked proximal raphe ends and lower areola density. The raphe of C. subrostrata is not reverse lateral.
