Cymbopleura incertiformis has barely dorsiventral linear-elliptic-lanceolate valves with slightly protracted apices. Cymbopleura metzeltinii has barely dorsiventral rhomboid-lanceolate valves and a wider axial area. Cymbopleura austriaca has larger valves with bluntly rounded apices.
