Cymbopleura procera, a species described from the Columbia River in Oregon, has a wider axial area and a higher density of areolae in the striae (24-26 in 10 µm). Cymbopleura inaequalis, C. lata, and C. subrostrata have narrower axial areas and wider, more bluntly rounded apices. Proximal raphe ends are distinctly hooked in valves of C. subcuspidata and C. subrostrata.
