Cymbopleura anglica has a smaller size range. Cymbopleura apiculata and C. subcuspidata have narrower apices and more dorsiventral valves with more strongly arched dorsal margins. Cymbopleura apiculata and C. subcuspidata also have proximal raphe ends shaped like crochet hooks. Cymbopleura elliptica has more symmetric, that is, less dorsiventral valves and subcapitate to capitate apices.
