Eunotia naegelli is more narrow, with a lower stria density. In addition, valves of E. naegelli have dorsally recurved apices. Eunotia ambivalens has distinctly rounded apices and marginal spines. Eunotia mucophila is more narrow, with a higher stria density. Valves of E. flexuosa possess an apical swelling.
