Eunotia obliquestriata is similar in morphology to E. valida and E. mydohaimasiae. Eunotia valida lacks the obliquely slanted striae of E. obliquestriata. While E. mydohaimasiae does have obliquely slanted striae, they are not consistently present or are not present across the length of the valves as they are in E. obliquestriata. The apices of E. obliquestriata are only slightly narrowed, and are not set off by a dorsal shoulder as the apices of E. mydohaimasiae and E. valida.
