Compare

Geissleria lateropunctata differs from G. punctifera by elliptical-lanceolate valves with narrowly rostrate or subrostrate apices. Valves of G. punctifera are more narrow, lanceolate, with broadly subrostrate apices. G. lateropunctata has one to five isolated areolae in central area while G. punctifera has one isolated areola. G. kriegeri is smaller and has no isolated areolae in central area.
