This taxon closely resembles Amphora acuta, A. arcuata, A. abludens, and A. subhyalina. These taxa all share a similar valve outline, a nearly straight, ventrally appressed raphe, areolate striae, thickened central virgae, and rounded apices.
Amphora acuta has a smaller size and finer striae, with valve length of 80–140 μm, width 20–30 μm, and stria density of 14–16 in 10 μm (Levkov 2009).
Amphora arcuata has a distinct, biarcuate, ventral margin and acute apices.
Amphora abludens
is smaller with finer striae, length of 14–35 μm, width of 4.0–5.5 μm, and stria density of 50–53 in 10 μm (Stepanek and Kociolek 2018).
Amphora subhyalina is smaller with finer striae, and length of 26–43 μm, width of 5.0–5.5 μm, and stria density of 42–43 in 10 μm (Stepanek and Kociolek 2018). See also Podzorski and Håkansson (1987) and Lobban and Witkowski (2023).
