Valves are semi-elliptic. Dorsal striae continue uninterrupted across the valve face from the raphe onto the mantle. The dorsal stria pattern changes in the central valve where the areolae are partially infilled giving the appearance in LM of a “horizontal bar”. Closely spaced, dilated, and deflected proximal raphe ends are easily discernible in LM.
