Luticola stigma has wider valves, broadly rounded apices, and an elliptical central area. Luticola goeppertiana has wider valves, broadly rounded apices, and a longer stigma (Hofmann et al. 2013). Luticola mutica has elliptical-lanceolate valves, broadly rounded apices, and stria that penetrate further into the central area (Hofmann et al. 2013).
