Meridion circulare var. constrictum can be distinguished from the nominate variety by the rostrate headpole. Length, breadth, and striae counts are similar between the two varieties. Meridion alansmithii has an elongated, subrostrate headpole and the rimoportula is at the widest point of the valve.
