  1. Striae strongly radiate at center
  2. Voigt discontinuities prominent

Valves are lanceolate with protracted ends that are relatively narrow compared to the valve width. The striae are strongly radiate and widely spaced near the center of the valve. The transition between radiate and parallel striae is abrupt at the Voigt discontinuities. Areolae are very coarse and easily distinguished in LM.
