Navicula winona differs by its lower areola density. Navicula densilineolata has non-attenuated, acutely rounded apices and more coarse areolae (27–30 in 10 μm). Valves of Navicula cryptotenella are smaller, lack long attenuated apices, and have higher stria and areola density. Navicula notha is smaller and has higher stria and areola density. The ends of Navicula radiosafallax are not attenuated and are obtusely wedge-shaped.
