Compare

Nitzschia vermicularis has narrower valves and a higher stria density. Nitzschia wuellerstorffii has shorter valves, a higher stria density and capitate apices. Nitzschia sigma has capitate apices, smaller valves and distinctly punctate striae. Nitzschia flexa has shorter, narrower valves and a higher stria density.
