Valves are lanceolate to linear-lanceolate. Raphe is absent on one valve. The raphe valve has round or ellitpical, often asymmetrical central area. The rapheless valve has narrowly rhomboid axial area and, occasionally an asymmetrical central area. Striae are radiate, 20-24 in 10 μm.
