Compare

Pinnularia mesogongyla valves are more narrow and linear and the raphe is complex.

Pinnularia sibflexuosa is large and has broadly lanceolate valves and axial area. To date, it is known only from fossil material from Mexico.

Pinnularia fossilis is smaller in size and lacks of clear undulations of the valve margins. However, this taxon may be conspecific with P. dariana and requires further examination.
