Pinnularia lunata guide
  1. Apices rounded, subrostrate
  2. Central area with bow-tie shaped fascia
  3. Central area with depressions

Valves with rounded, subrostrate apices. The central area is a broad bow tie-shaped fascia, ornamented by two sets of rounded depressions of the external valve surface. Striae are radiate in the middle portion of the valve and convergent at the apices.
