Psammothidium acidoclinatum differs from P. scoticum by its wider axial area on rapheless valve, elliptic-lanceolate valve shape, and lower stria density. Valves of P. altaicum are rhomboid-lanceolate with higher striae density. Psammothidium marginulatum is very similar to P. acidoclinatum, but has valves with slightly protracted apices.
