Valves are small, with rounded ends. The central area is wide, more or less symmetric and bow-tie shaped. Striae are radiate at the central valve, becoming parallel at the poles. Striae are 20-22 in 10 µm. Areolae are not resolvable under LM, but form biseriate striae. Polar bars are absent.
