Sellaphora wallacei frequently co-occurs with Fallacia latelongitudinalis, which is similar in size and also has extremely fine striae. Unlike S. wallacei, F. latelongitudinalis has a conopeum covering the external valve surface, which gives the appearance of "wrinkles" alongside the raphe. The valve apices of S. wallacei are protracted, but not in F. latelongitudinalis.
