Compare

Stauroneis anceps has rostrate, rather than capitate apices. The stauros of S. acidoclinatopsis is narrowly rectangular, compared to the bow tie shaped stauros of S. ancepsfallax. Stauroneis amphicephala has more linear valves, with rostrate to subcapitate apices. Valves of S. ancepsfallax are larger and more lanceolate than those of S. reichardtii. Stauroneis vandevijveri is smaller and has rostrate to subcapitate ends.
