Stauroneis beeskova has a higher stria density, the striae are more radiate and the apices are protracted. Stauroneis baconiana, S. gremmenii, and S. indianopsis have greater valve breadths, higher stria densities and rostrate valve apices. Stauroneis angustilancea has curved proximal raphe ends, shorter valves and protracted apices.
