Stauroneis lauenburgiana has linear to linear-elliptic valves less than 50 µm long. Shallow pseudosepta are present. Areolae are coarse, transversely oblong and irregularly spaced. Areolae form an uninterrupted longitudinal line along each side of the axial area.
