Compare

Staurophora tackei is much smaller and has linear-lanceolate valves. Staurophora wislouchii has elliptic-lanceolate valves with short protracted ends. Stauroneis submarina has a narrow linear central area that is unlike the broad deltoid central area of S. brantii.
