  3. Striae are alternate and slightly radiate at the center to radiate at the ends
  4. Cells joined in colonies

Valves are cruciform and strongly symmetric. Valves are abruptly narrow and extend more than the length of the swollen central area to capitate or subcapitate ends. Marginal spines are present. Separation between cells are visible at the apices, in girdle view.
