  1. Cells arranged face-face in chains
  2. Valve face flat, deep mantle
  3. Weak annulus present
  4. Fascicles consisting of a single row of areolae

Valve face is flat, with a faint annulus present in the valve center. Frustules are linked in chains. In girdle view, the deep mantle is evident. Areolae are uniseriate. Marginal spines are present at each interfascicle.
