Tryblionella apiculata differs from T. hungarica in the ratio of striae to fibulae. Tryblionella apiculata has a 1:1 ratio of striae to fibulae, while T. hungarica has a ratio of nearly 2:1. In addition, the central constriction of the valve is more apparent in T. apiculata.
