Achnanthidium thienemannii guide
  1. Valves linear to linear-lanceolate
  2. Valve ends rostrate to subcapitate
  3. Fascia usually present on raphe valve
  4. Striae mostly parallel on both valves
  5. Striae 20-26 in 10 μm at center, 30-38 in 10 μm at apices

Valves are linear to linear-lanceolate with rostrate to subcapitate ends. Central area on raphe valve is usually a rectangular fascia. Striae are mostly parallel, but may be very slightly radiate in the middle of the valve and slightly convergent at the apices. Striae 20-26 in 10 μm at center, 30-38 in 10 μm at apices.
