Cavinula vincentii differs from C. pseudoscutiformis by the valve shape and areolae; both are more round in C. pseudoscutiformis. Furthermore, the areolae of C. vincentii are elongated near the central area, although this character may be difficult to discern in LM. Enlarged, pore-like fissures at the apices distinguish C. vincentii from C. pseudoscutiformis in SEM. Cavinula oculata differs from C. vincentii by a more recessed external raphe, occluded areolae, a lack of elongated areolae near the central area and a valve face with a greater degree of curvature than C. vincentii.
