Diploneis ovalis has generally broader valves and a higher striae and areolae density. Diploneis krammeri has elliptic to linear-elliptic valves with broadly rounded ends and smaller central area, 3.8-4.5 µm wide. Diploneis elliptica has less extended central area and coarser striae and areolae.
