Encyonopsis krammeri is similar in size and shape but has a higher stria density (25-30 in 10 μm). Valves of Encyonema evergladianum are larger and have weakly rostrate apices and more strongly arched ventral margins. Encyonema gaeumannii has capitate apices and a lower stria density.
