Encyonopsis czarneckii has a smaller central area and a higher stria density. Encyonopsis descripta and E. descriptiformis have larger, rounded and more or less symmetric central areas. Valves of E. medicinalis are smaller, elliptic-lanceolate and possess a smaller central area. Encyonopsis descripta var. asymmetrica has a larger central area and lower stria density.
