  2. Striae short and robust
  3. Stigma present
  4. Axial area broad and mottled

Valves are lanceolate-clavate and thickly silicified. The axial area is broad and the surface of the silica is mottled. Striae are thick, and shorter near the central area than in the remaider of the valve. A stigma is present.
