Navicula subconcentrica has smaller valves with narrower, acutely rounded to subcapitate apices. The proximal raphe ends of N. subconcentrica are straight and relatively close together and the central nodule is typically symmetric and straight. Navicula pseudolanceolata has smaller valves with non-protracted apices, radiate or parallel terminal striae, and somewhat coarser areolae.
