Stauroneis acidoclinatopsis may be distinguished from S. reichardtii by its larger size, narrower stauros, and curved proximal raphe ends. It may be distinguished from S. acidoclinata and S. amphicephala by its rectangular stauros and abruptly protracted, capitate apices.
