We need to know the species
Phycologist with over 15 years experience in taxonomy of benthic and planktonic freshwater algae (diatoms and soft-bodied algae), last nine years focused on identification of freshwater algae from California, their ecology, limnological principles and determination of the effect of microbiological processes on water quality. Expertise in isolation and complex culture methods for microorganisms, cyanobacteria and green algae. Strengths include advanced knowledge in microbiological/phycological study design, implementation, data collection, management, statistical analysis, and report writing; development and application of novel algal quantification method for stream bioassessment; discoveries of numerous new to the science diatoms and green algal species. Extensive international scientific presentation and publication record. Developed online algae identification tool: Soft-bodied stream algae of California.
