Description: Xavier Cortada first collaborated with Florida Coastal Everglades Long-Term Ecological Research (FCE LTER) scientists in 2014 to better understand the impact of global climate change on our ecosystems. Since then he has created diatom-themed exhibits and public art pieces across the state of Florida. In this session, Cortada will discuss his approach to participatory environmental science and explain how he uses his diatom art pieces to educate and engage the community.

Target audience: This seminar is directed at anyone who is interested in the intersection of science and art.
