Description: Ever needed to search for descriptions and images of newly established diatom taxa in a centralized location? Look no further than the Academy of Natural Sciences (ANSP) Diatom New Taxon File (DNTF). Started by Dr. Ruth Patrick in the 1950s, this resource was maintained by the ANSP Diatom Herbarium staff led by Dr. Charles Reimer, who created index cards documenting images and descriptions of almost all diatom taxa described after 1932. As of 2016, all physical cards were scanned and uploaded to a website, and we developed a process to create new cards virtually. Learn more about updates to the DNTF along with other useful resources provided by the ANSP Diatom Herbarium.

Target Audience: This talk is directed at people working on diatom identification using primary literature. This talk is also important for understanding algal nomenclature.

Diatoms of North America is running a fundraising campaign to keep the servers in operation. We need you to reach our $25,000 fundraising goal.
