Description: We use scientific names to describe and identify our diatoms. This workshop will introduce everyone to the International Code of Nomenclature that governs how we name organisms, why diatom names change, how to choose the correct name, and a set of best practices for applying the rules of nomenclature in our work.
Target Audience: This workshop is directed at algal taxonomists, analysts, students, researchers, and managers who need to understand the how and why behind scientific diatom names and using them correctly.
